The PTAC works very closely with the US Small Business
Adminstration
in providing services to businesses within the PTAC's service area. For information
about the hundreds of services and programs offered by the US SBA, please visit
their website, which
provides a wealth of information for the small business owner.
PTAC wishes to highlight three services provided by SBA. They are:
The HUBZone Empowerment Contracting program provides federal contracting opportunities for qualified small businesses located in distressed areas. Fostering the growth of these federal contractors as viable businesses, for the long term, helps to empower communities, create jobs, and attract private investment.
Visit the SBA HUBZone website to learn more.
The SBA adminsters this business assistance program for small disadvantaged businesses (SDBs). This program is called the Small Disadvantaged Business Certification Program. While the 8(a) Program offers a broad scope of assistance to socially and economically disadvantaged firms, SDB certification strictly pertains to benefits in federal procurement. 8(a) firms automatically qualify for SDB certification.
To find out more about this program, contact Doug Aspy at the Clarksburg, W.Va., District SBA office at 304-623-5631, ext. 224 or log on to the SDBC website.
